And an entire article - The Poe Code: The Secret Meaning of Person of Interest - devoted to it. Don't know that I go all the way with her, but it's nice to see someone jump in with both feet. I just really enjoyed the caper and the cast in this one.
The article focuses on the Poe story but, while never having read it, the PoI ep also seems to riff on Les Miserables, with the Interpol guy being Javert and the Czechs being the Thenardiers or something. And, of course, the art thief was supposed to be the awful villain Javert would triumphantly arrest, but turns out to be rather different from what he thought. I thought the Interpol guy did a great job, anyway.
And it does bring home the idea that, again, isn't everybody glad Finch, Reese, Shaw, and Fusco are on "our side". They could do some serious damage if they weren't. But, then again, if they were the bad guys, somebody else would be the good guys. So, I guess, ultimately, it again points to the power of the Machine.
