Have it ordered on my kindle to be automatically delivered on it's release and really looking forward to it.

Yes seems expensive, you can pick up hardcovers at that price nowadays...

I have the hardcover of Promise of Blood on my shelf, I did enjoy it but i'm 50:50 on picking up the rest of the series, and that price doesn't help!

I have the 1st book on my shelf but haven't read it yet, if I enjoy it I will pick the 2nd one up!

I haven't read the first one, but it was really intriguing. I think there was a sample chapter in Dance of Dragons? Anyway, I still mean to read it, that the second book is almost out increases my incentive so there is not such a wait between releases.

Anyone tried this one, yet? Am waiting for the paperback price to lower a little first. Will probably pop it on my Christmas list. Should be cheaper by then, anyway!

Finished it over the weekend...someone said it's a bit like Sharpe with magic; if it is, it concentrates on the senior officers not the front line soldiers.

But I enjoyed it and will get the second volume at some stage.
