Hey,

Is there such a thing as an online book club for new writers?

Somewhere that each week you can share work with a designated group and they go over and critique your work and you do the same for them?

I'm struggling with feedback and want more but don't want to flood these boards as im in danger of doing. So is there a small group of online readers who share each others work and discuss it?

Critters.org is worth a look at

Critiquecircles is also good.

But hang around here, let us get to know you. Crit other people's - I can't say how important that is both in terms of recipicity and in improving your self-editing skills. All my regular betas and my writing group (online so we're geographically separate) came from the chrons. Once people are more familiar with your work send some feelers out and see if you can arrange some swops.

oh yeah, i'm staying here. I like this place! Can't get rid of me just yet.

Hi barrett1987,

Definitely stick around, as Springs has said, as long as you contribute people will be happy to help. :)

I've offered many crits but I've dipped my toes in the Critique forum only three times (and I have been here for nearly 3 years). That's because I learn so much from reading other people's questions, critting their work and see what others say about it, etc, that a lot of my (one's) crit requests would be redundant if I put them up (not that this is to discourage you in any way).

And thank you very, very much for your comments on the piece I just put up for crit tonight; your points are all valid and I will definitely put your advice into practice. ;)

I generally hang out at Scribophile, they have general critiquing or there are groups which are more specialised, and if you're a member you can have private groups and set your work to only be critiqued by people in that group (I think, not a member of any private groups)

Thanks for the Scribophile tip, I love it and how it works. Have done crits and posted some bits, works really well.
