The Creators Vault

There terms of service doesn't work, which is a flag.

They also offer no company details, despite charging for a service, which is another red flag.

If you're really paranoid about copyright issues, then email a copy of your MS in the post.

If you want an electronic archive, I suspect that Google Drive, Sky Drive, etc, would likely carry as much legal weight - if any - as TheCreatorsVault.com.

You have copyright from the moment you set words to paper (or screen). As Brain says, you can just email yourself a copy, which will then be time/date stamped. Save to a cloud based service too if you're ultra paranoid.

You don't need to use a service like this at all. I mean, you can if you like, but I don't see any advantage to that over a free service so why shell out when you don't need to?

ETA: Thought the name rang a bell

It may not be all it seems....(same guy running 3 similar sites) and it could well be part of a scam. Proceed with caution

Unfortunately, we live at a time when those who want to steal your copyrighted work don't even care if you've gone the whole way and registered it with the Copyright Office. Copyright infringement is rife, and unless you can afford to sue those who are distributing your work without your permission you can take any method you like to prove that the work is yours (email yourself a copy, register your copyright, etc.) and it doesn't mean a thing.

The only advantage to proving that the work is your own is to prevent someone else from taking credit for it.

Something else to worry about if I ever get printed. It's a hard world out there.

I have a copy of registration for copyright that is issued in the US and I'm sure once I get a frame for it it will look pretty impressive on the wall.

To get that you have to go through all the proper hoops and deliver a copy of the best printed edition although I think they now allow some electronic forms.

If someone does steal your words you will have to prosecute them yourself, but you have one more leg to stand on so to speak- with no real guarantee that you will actually win.
