Help me Remember this story!

So a long time ago I read this story, but I have since forgotten most of the plot and (of course) the name and author . I'd sure appreciate your help to find it again!

Plot: An astronaut goes on a long trip and returns to earth to find everything is much different. I believe he actually is not back on Earth but on a space station orbiting the planet.

Though I might be mistaken (perhaps a different story) there is mention of a wrist wearable device that lets everyone in on making important decisions (ultimate democracy type thing).

That's about all I remember please help me find it again!

I just finished The Forever War by Joe Haldeman which is about a soldier being victim to relativity. No wrist devices, but otherwise could fit?

More info:
The main character is assigned a helper to get used to the new reality of Earth in the future.
It is also possible that this story has a "scene" where people could visit a reduced gravity dome put some "wings" on a go flying.

Thanks, not the story I'm looking for but sounds very interesting, I'll look for it.

"My" story is mostly concerned with the hard time the main character has in adapting to a vastly different and future Earth not so much the trip itself.
