Has anyone read this?

I am really struggling with it and I've only just started chapter two. I wondered if anyone could tell me it was worth carrying on with? I will read a little more but expect I shall give it back to the charity bookshop I got it from very soon.

I will admit to reading it late at night when half asleep but it does nothing to keep me reading. There are pages of info dumping that my eyes are glazing over at and the bit I read last night, where a young girl is taken from her home having been accused of being a witch was just so emotionally bare I felt like giving up there and then. It says her dad dies on the spot from a heart attack and she expects her mum to die of a broken heart, but she only spares a thought for her pup, hoping to find someone to look after him!

what???! (apologies for the excessive use of punctuation!)

I was younger when I read this series but I really enjoyed the books and they have a very unique plot twist.

Well I read some more and it is better.. but I did notice an awful lot of head hopping (even in the same paragraph).

I wonder if learning more about creative writing is making me too analytical of books I read. But perhaps I just understand more now about the reasons a book isn't so good.

I can empathise with that. You have to learn to switch that part of your brain off; or at least dial it down a bit, or you'll NEVER ENJOY A BOOK AGAIN!!!
