Bought today, read first few chapters. Surprised its written in present tense.
Enjoying it though.

I'm 40% in. The MC is boring me. The bad guy is interesting but the more i learn the less interesting and the more cliche he becomes. Infact...all of the characters are lacking real depth. which is a bit crazy for a King book.

Overall - Did not like. Present tense, cliche characters and a whodunit without the who. or the why.

It has been a long time since I have read a King novel, though I grew up reading them. I was thinking about going back to him with this one, but apparently not? I think I will just wait for his next one. I have not read one of his since . . . Insomnia, I think. Which I loved dearly.

I really enjoyed this one, it would be nice to see more with the same characters!
I rate also "Insomnia" pretty high as well, stayed up all night reading it (LOL).

My wish is granted!!!!!!!
There are two sequels to "Mr Mercedes", "Finders Keepers" & "End Of Watch".
Both very good, it's best to read them in order.

I'm a sucker for all things Stephen King, and I am generally very forgiving of his not-so-good endings, stupidly long novels and recycled ideas, but I can't say I liked this one at all.

Is Finders Keepers any better?

I tried a sample of Mr. Mercedes and the first 10 pages of introducing the MC is about him watching a Jerry Springer like show on TV and how the contestants are fighting each other over a guy and that is all it is. Not sure why SK has the need to do stuff like that but it has put me off completely reading this book.

Yeah, biodroid, the tv show went at the same pace. I finished it, but I didn't enjoy it. Scratch one for Mr King.
