I'm looking for a story where a pink "slime" invades and is converting the earth to pink land. The hero of the story finds a way to use the pink substance to bring several historic scientists back to life. Together they save the earth by cutting out the pink stuff and removing it from earth. I think Marie Curie and Issac Newton may have been some of the scientists. Has to be 30 years old or more. Anybody have a title or author?
Thanks.

This is definitely Manly Wade Wellman’s Giants From Eternity (1959). It has “the blight” (slime) that can resurrect the dead.

From a Goodreads review: “It had to have been the inspiration for The Blob, though it is a lot weirder. In brief, when an alien life form crashes to earth, its mysterious powers are used by the steely-eyed, square-jawed hero (what other kind is there?) to assemble an A-Team of resurrected scientific giants (Darwin! Newton! Pasteur! Edison! Curie!), who then work together to stop said alien life form from engulfing Earth.”

At long last I can die in peace. I probably read the Avalon reprint of Giants in the early to mid 60s and beginning some time in the 70s or 80s I would remember snippets but not the name or author. Never had that happen with other stories - I either remembered or found them quickly. After the internet became available every once in a while a snippet (pink, blob, asteroid Madam Curie, etc.) would pop up and I would spend a few minutes to hours searching unsuccessfully. Tonight I was tracking down copies of Malcolm Jameson's stuff and I saw a chance reference to The Blob. Several hours later I landed here and the scales fell from my eyes. I also learned that several others have recently had the same question. I know I sound a bit giddy, but I have been trying to solve this mystery for more than forty years. My utmost gratitude to you and Martin.

This gets marked as "Found, probably". It's almost certainly the correct identification, but hasn't got the confirmation, as yet, of the OP.
