Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone knew any GoT book parodies? It looks like there is a million memes about the show but not one book parody.

There was quite a few Lord of the Rings spoofs (I think I even had one in print, "Bored of the Rings") and many others, I thought maybe there is some of GoT.

Thanks!

Yes, that's what I thought! I actually had an idea of writing a series of tiny one-page stories based on different classic novels (Winnie the Pooh, Marry Poppins etc) and how they looked if GRRM wrote them.

Retz, you might expect something after the series is finished. Perhaps one book, I don't think I could read seven straight books of parody... I do not ever want to read or see any GRRM retelling of Poppins or Pooh!

I could see an Andy Sidaris homage called A Thong of Ice and Fire.

I could also envision A Game of Pwns. Wait... that's already World of Warcraft.

Not sure if it's based on a negative experience or you are just not familiar with this type of parody. It may be somewhat unusual to English readers, but it's quite popular in other cultures, maybe you should give it a chance ;)

>This is everything wikipedia shows as parodies of ASOIAF: Works based on A Song of Ice and Fire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanks Josh! I looked it up and the reviews are not good at all. Actually, I have a strong suspicion the reviews are funnier than the book itself :)

One trick I'd see as apt to a ASoIaF parody would be to have the AUTHOR killed off in the first chapter, with the book continuing on in some silly fashion. EVERYBODY can die in a Martin story.

That can actually be pretty amusing if written properly. Maybe the reader can die in the book? It could be done through the first person narrative POV:

"...a hard shove from behind almost knocked me down and then I saw an arrow head sticking out of my chest, all red and sticky with blood.
'That can't be happening...' I thought while the world spun and swirled around, 'That can't...''

The End.

A perfect GRRM story :)))

"Arrow thunks and screams of cut throated Starbuck's barristas fueled the fountains of blood painting the shelves in the Barnes and Noble a uniform red as the big man hustled his way of a back entrance. One thing was for sure, signed First Editions from the Red Signing, especially if stained, would fetch top dollar in years to come."

Oh, don't tempt me. When you play the game of Poohsticks, you win or you die.

Nice one! How about Eeyore's Red Party where he kills the whole lot, because his depression was actually based on suicidal schizophrenia? Wait... that's a Stanley Kubrick's film, my bad! :)

Retz, there are some things from my childhood that I'd like to remember unblemished... a nostalgia for innocence. As you can see from my avatar, I'm a fan of Tigger.

You're missing out, you know. You'll never find about about Joffroo's real father. Or the bit where Maester Owl makes a special saddle so that Branlet can ride round on Hodeeyore.

I'll stop now, for everyone's benefit.

Amazing!

A version (multi-volume, naturally) written entirely as dialogue might be called Witter is Coming.

Rumour (naturally) has it that some of the books are nearing completion:

  1. A Game of Drones
  2. A Clash of Keens
  3. A Storm of Words
  4. A Feast of Crowing
  5. A Din with Dragons
  6. The Winds of Witter
Book seven is current being split into two, and so remains unnamed while everyone talks about it.

Books? I'm not sure.

However, South Park made quite an amusing parody about it.

Game of Desks

Game of Hearts

Honest Trailer

Lord Friend Zone made me laugh.

I actually watched all of those already. Honest Trailers always make me laugh.

"From fiction's most notorious serial killer..."
"Abusive show you keep watching no matter how many times it hurts you"
"King Justin Bieber"
"Any bewbs necessary" *insert epic music*
