I love Gemmell and have everything he wrote including signed first editions that I've started collecting since his regrettable death in 06....
My question to all you Gemmellites is what is the scene/event that moved you the most in his books.....
For example.... Pagan's protection of the children in King beyond the gate....
I'll be interested to see what people think

So many too choose from!

Conn against the bear. The way Govannan charge in to help his arch enemy, Riamfada choosing to sacrifice himself rather then get his new friends killed.

Helikaon and Argurios on the steps. Loved that whole scene.

Battle of Skeln pass. Oh Sieben, our dear, dear Sieben.

Rage fighting instead of Bane. I thought that would be the end of Rage.

Every scene in Knights of Dark Renown. Can't choose one...

The return of the Robin Hood at the end of Morningstar. Awesome..

Great... now I have the urge to reread them all, again.

Spoilers ahead,
The death of Druss and his return as a ghost in Legend

The sacrifice made by some of the chracters in Winter Warriors

Every book has a few to choose from!

Conn vs bear was a great one.

Jaim rescuing Maev (is that her name?) is probably my favorite.

I agree with all these but are you also forgetting scene's like....The Wyrd exorcising the area around the bear attack in the early stages of 'Stormrider'? :)

It's little touches like that, that in my opinion make Gemmell's books great.... Lots of blood, guts and glory with just the slightest hint of melodrama ;)

I had to think back to the Legend scene and yes, that is a great moment.... Just when you feel all is lost, in death Druss continues to be a hero :D

Those are all good but you are forgetting the best one.

The end of Hero in the Shadows. When Waylander sacrifices himself to save his wife and children. He could go to any place or time he wanted and that was what he chose. He knew he was going to die and the only thing he could think of was to protect the family he had lost all those years ago.

But wouldn't that cause a time paradox and cause the writing of 3 books null and void? :) lol
Yes, it is a greatly poignant moment :)

The death of Pagan in King Beyond The Gate. Turns me into a blubbering idiot everytime I read it.

"He was a hero? Why didn't he tell us?"

"Perhaps he didn't know."

"He didn't even like children!"

I know it's not word perfect, it's been a few years, but yeah, I love that scene too. Sends shivers down my spine!
