Hi all,
I'm trying to find the name/author of a book I read years ago (I think between 2005 and 2008) that involved some sort of espionage with the main character being a detective. The background of the novel involved quantum connections that allowed online chatting with people in slightly different parallel universes, and a big mystery was that the USA alone was a deadzone, and no one knew why. At the end of the novel the detective and his companions actually physically travel there and find all human life completely gone, but everything else still in-tact. It seemed very Internet-oriented, but I don't remember exactly why they disappeared. I think it was published in the early to mid-2000's.
