Having read The Man Without Fear and Born Again, I'm now half way through End of Days and enjoying it immensely. I'm considering that (in my opinion) these Daredevil publications are some of the best graphic novels I've ever read.

I'm not sure whether it's Daredevil that I connect with or if it's the quality of the story lines and the artwork in these particular books which is giving me such enjoyment.

Can anyone recommend any other Daredevil graphic novels that are on a par with these please?

"Born Again" is one my favourite Daredevil story lines. Frank Miller really brought out the character from C-list obscurity to A-list greatness during his run on the title. After Miller, the next person to do great things with Daredevil was Brian Michael Bendis with art by Alex Maleev. Really, really good. It probably makes sense to start that particular run of the comics (Daredevil Vol. 2) from the beginning, where Kevin Smith wrote the first story arc and even Dave Mack (of "Kabuki" fame) did some issues before Brian Michael Bendis took over. But it's not strictly essential and you could just start with the BMB issues (starting with issue 26 and the "Underboss" arc).

Have you read Miller's Batman work? "Year One" and "Dark Knight Returns"?

"Born Again" is truly superb - the focus on the humanity of those involved, flaws and all, rather than super-heroism, makes it really stand out.

And some of the larger-than-life characters - I will never forget that frightening nurse!

Marvel did themselves proud by touching on a lot of subjects that could easily have frightened them from the story, not least hard drug use.

IMO I've seen few better graphic novels. Watchmen might be one.

Thanks for the recommendations Boreas, I'll check out Vol 2.

I've read Dark knight Returns and enjoyed it but not as much as the Daredevil books. Year One is on the shelf waiting to be opened.

Agree with you Brian, absolutely superb and yes Watchmen is definitely up there

Hi crooksy73,

Sorry, but I don't log on regularly.

By volume 2, I meant the 2nd series of Daredevil comics. Volume 1 was the original Daredevil series (that ran from the late 60s till the late 90s) on which Frank Miller also worked on for a period.

In the late 90s ('98 or '99), Marvel restarted Daredevil with issue #1 (this being volume 2) and Kevin Smith (director of Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma) wrote the first storyline. David Mack also penned a few issues and created an original character (Echo) who reappears in the later Bendis/Maleev run. Bendis also wrote a story (without Maleev's art) before he started his continuous, long run with Maleev.

Yes, you should get all 3 books from the links you've posted, since they collect the Bendis/Maleev run. I don't have the collected trade paperbacks, just the original issues, but the Bendis/Maleev collaboration started with issue 20-something of volume 2. I'm guessing the first book in your links starts with that 20-something issue.

I know that volume 2 was cancelled and Daredevil was restarted again with #1 (volume 3) sometime later. But I didn't follow the title for much longer after Bendis/Maleev finished.

Hope that helps.

I really like the character of daredevil.
Unlike other superheroes who has great power, daredevil has many weakness.
He is more down to earth for me.

Anyone here who is fan of Yellow Daredevil?
I loved this issue so much. It is one of my favorite comics of all time.
