I remember back in the 70's when this was rather abundant on the book shelves and then it fade away. I picked up one of the books in the series number 15 Escape to Venus . My impression , It's not great science fiction, but It's fun to read.:)

one the books Mission Star Dust was adapted in 1967,

Any thoughts on this series?

Are there no Perry Rhodan fans here? :alien:

Actually I've been learning German the past year so I can read Perry Rhodan. I have the first cycle, Die Dritte Macht, on my kindle and have started reading it. It's tough going at the moment, mostly because there are words I haven't learned yet, but the dictionary on the kindle helps with that.

I've read a few of the English translation books a number of years ago.

There are english editions of the early books. :)

I know, but those only cover about the first two cycles. With this week's release the number of stories will be 2776, and that's just the main storyline.

The book I'm reading is not the stuff of hugo awards, but it's pretty entertaining . They sold pretty well . I don't understand why they stopped publishing them in the US.

Your avatar is a Perry Rhodan cover it seems Vince - I'm sure you knew that! It's featured on the Wikipedia page for PR, but has a different background:

Cool cover.

2250 is that how many books there are in the series ?

I believe so, Baylor. I've never read any, as their reputation precedes them, however (see Wikipedia entry for instance).

No, there will be 2776 'books' this Friday. And that's just the main series. Not really books though, more like novellas. But that's still a lot of material.

Other then the 1967 film, Im surprised that there have been no other adaptations.

I've got the first three or four in the Ace Books edition stored away somewhere. Haven't read them but periodically get the urge to dig them out and give 'em a try.
