Star Wars episode 7: The Force Awakens

Not necessarily. The Empire was galaxy-spanning, with plenty of admirals and Grand Moffs and others leaders I'm sure more than willing to jump into the top job.

Vader threw him down the shaft, there was an explosion and a discharge of energy. Given he was Sith Lord . What if he simply transferred his consciousness to someplace else, like another body?

Well, that was the exact story in the comics series Dark Empire. Given the disconnect with the Expanded Universe, I suspect they'll steer clear of that storyline.

Then maybe it Sith rival of Palaptine who managed to sty out of his reach while he was in power.

Here's another thought , Could that Sith Lord be Luke Skywalker?

As far as we know Palapatine didn't have any children and other Vader had no other Sith acolytes. Sith lords in power tended to keep the number of potential rivals as small as possible.

But getting back to why Luke could be Sith. In 30 year alot has probably happened to him.

Or Leia's and Han's sprog (I make no assumptions on gender).

Another good candidate for Sith Lord. Trying extrapolate the storyline possibilities of a film in 88 seconds of trailer is well nigh impossible. But fun.:D

I just read this thread and had a good laugh-out-loud at 'hamsterball droid' and Soccer-D2. I thought that little droid was cool!

I really liked the trailer. Felt like a movie I'm excited to watch...and that is saying a lot since I don't really seem to enjoy many movies. I hope JJ can bring back the franchise.

I was talking to my wife about it and she gave me a smug, indifferent look at the mention of a new Star Wars movie...then she watched the trailer and said "I'd go see that with you" So there is a win in the Universe

I'm more curious than excited. There's so much Star Wars media out there that it's hard for me to really get hyped about one project.

Actually, I'd go further and say there is too much media hype about all films in production, so that it is almost impossible for them to live up to that level of expectation. Last week it was Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the week earlier it was Terminator: Genisys, today it is James Bond: Spectre.

We already know who all the heroes and villains are. Then they'll bring out trailers that even spoil all the twists in the story plot. What is there actually left in the film to see?

But maybe it is just me being old again!

Edit: BTW I love all the fan-made Force Awakens trailers that have appeared in the last 6 days. They are really funny and that is something that never happened before films became a media sensation.

Dark acolytes of Vader and Sidius are presente in every incarnation of the EU, from Marvel early times (Lumiya), to the Dark Horse/Del Rey Era (now legends, including characters as Mara Jade) and the new EU (with the evil guy on Rebels). So, the bad guy could easily be a "lost disciple" that we haven't seen yet.

I wonder how they'll deal with the physics of ships in space in the new films?

Simply that in the Lucas films, X-Wings fly as if they're in an atmosphere, banking and turning - the physics is plainly wrong. Yet would it be too much of a leap to have them move in a realistic manner, as Babylon 5 did?

I don't like the idea of Luke becoming the Sith Lord. But since 30 years have passed, who knows? This is something I will definitely want to see. I grew up watching the original Star Wars trilogy. Didn't mind the prequels, though they weren't what I was expecting, and I didn't care for The Phantom Menace at all. I do hope this new Star Wars film captures the original magic of Star Wars IV: A New Hope.

I think we all agree that there's a real need to recapture the magic of the original trilogy, and I'm pretty hopeful JJ's the man to do it.

When does the next teaser come out already?!

I just hope it's nothing to do with the same family in terms of the Dark Side. As a total OT & Prequel fanboy the one thing I hate is the compulsion Lucas had to make everyone and everything related.

I just hope the Sith is no one from the Skywalker or Solo clan.

The OT was anti elitist but all this keeping it within the same family is all about privilege!

Next trailer confirmed to be airing with Avengers Age of Ultron!

Yes. I'd love to see another of Yoda's species (I guess he was supposed to be the last of his race, but since when did that ever matter)
