When it comes to the Rise of the Batman, everything in the past seems to enablers. Every character from Gordon to Alfred, not talking about the families which over the time turn out to be major factors for Batman's survival in the Gotham. And in talking about Alfred I wouldn't had thought that the old man had no other choice but to teach his bad ways to the boy, whose destiny is to become the ultimate crime fighter in the worst possible city that Earth carries on her surface.
I think Gordon sees how corrupt that place is and the darkness he sees in the city he came to concur is getting overwhelming as there's no end to everything nasty. Even the last creep, who he should had sent down to be with the fishes, is turning out to be the worst nightmare. So, when Batman surfaces from Alfred's battle-school in the end, Gordon will see him as saviour, or as a messiah bringing light and hope to the oppressed. Will Barbara be one of them? I don't know but I'm afraid that she cannot take it. She cannot handle the dangers Gordon faces and she ends up being a housewife, with a dream about her gallery at the high street.
So I have to say that I love all characters, and that makes this thing dangerous as usually it has mean Fox will cancel this series before sun dries last drops of snow from the grass, or it will try to change it somehow - cos their bosses are never happy with anything good.
