Episode 9 "Harvey Dent" The case with the bomber was kind of interesting but I thought the scenes with Bruce and Selina were hard to watch. I did like that Alfred didn't interrupt their food fight though.

Why hard to watch? I found the food fight hard to watch, oddly, as it seemed excessively goofy but, like you, I liked Alfred being discreet.

Interesting seeing the Vigilance guy from PoI in this one - I just saw someone else from another show I watch in another show, but I can't remember who it was now.

Is this canon (or any of the various canons) though? I don't recall Wayne and Kyle associating this much as kids but there are vast areas of the Batman stuff I don't know.

And do we think the final scene means the "good cop" is generally untrustworthy or was this personal and not business?

Anyway - pretty interesting ep. I still want the show to do more somehow - still feel a little cramped by the prequelness and the seeming slowness of development but things do seem to be moving at some rate, at least, and it was pretty good.

Reposting from the previous thread:

The introduction of Harvey Dent here is interesting. I an still a bit uneasy about the cramming in of so many bat-verse names so early, but as I was saying above, it's pretty much inevitable if they want a compelling show. There was little subtlety to his characterisation though. The rise of Penguin continues with his discovery of Liza, giving his an angle on Fish as well as Falcone.

And to add, I liked the scenes with Bruce and Selina, he's still a kid and needs to have some fun in his life. Alfred's change of heart when seeing the bun fight was sweet.

It's not canon. Harvey Dent becomes District Attorney much, much later on it the game when he starts to fight against Falcone's empire. He doesn't even appear before all the major baddies has been introduced through Batman. So what he does in this episode is beyond me as I doubt he has DA's powers of letting young perpetrators to walk away. But in the regards of Selina Kyle, there's several different origins story that follow more and less the orphan, streetkid line that they've established in the series. However, none of them make her to live with Bruce in the Wayne Manor under Alfred's watchful eye. In fact, it's much later that she develops love interest to the dark crusader.

Ah - that helps with the "boxed-in" problem that prequels have - if they can color outside the lines, who knows what may happen? (On the other hand, if they do too much of it, what's the point in calling it a Batman story? And, either way, it might alienate the purists - probably would me if I knew enough to be a purist. ;)) Thanks for the information.
