That said, it didn't start all that great the first time but got better and I think it's possible this will get better still.

It certainly is a possibility, but to me it was wrong kind of start. Just too much bang, bang and fooling the guard on the gate, while another hack credentials into the system is a trope that should had been altered by the staff writers. They should had known better as it's in everything out there and they've done much cleverer stuff in the last season. But they didn't. Nevertheless, I'm not really against the Absorption Man as he's a wicked character from Hulk and Spiderman, and what he did was way cooler than what the scoopie-gang managed to do. Then again, they had to get into trouble some how, didn't they?

What comes to Agent Carter and Dum Dum Hogan on her side is just so wrong in my honest opinion, because I am so used to see Dum Dum on Nick Fury's (the white guy with a streak on his hair) side. Now that he's gone and there has been no mention if he's coming back into the series or into the movies, the whole building up the SHIELD from scratch feels wrong. Although, it's true that Coulson needs a purpose in his life, he could had made a splinter organisation from SHIELD scrap and rename it to something else, but that would had also meant that Whedon would had painted himself into the corner (unless Jackson is back as Nick Fury in the Avengers 2).

I also felt they tried to cram too many characters in one episode; I couldn't keep track of all the names. I'm guessing that from episode 2 onwards they might slow down a little and actually get into all the different characters, but episode 1, much as I enjoyed it, felt a little like an extended promo.

Fun show but.. is it just me or is the music overbearing? There was constant background music trying to inject energy into every single scene..

Or maybe I'm getting old, I'm already out of the demographic :p

I think that's true of a lot of TV shows and films these days. Watch something from a few (and by a few I mean at least 10!) years ago and there are actual moments of silence. It makes the bits with music/sound so much more dramatic, giving it a bit of contrast. I suspect an awful lot of it is about having a soundtrack that can be sold ...

Yeah I know music is used more and more but I don't think most shows use it constantly in every minute of every scene?

Less is definitely more!

AoS hit the ground running in the first episode, but it's still continuing at quite the pace.

Really enjoying the four way conflict reveal from this episode: Shield, Hydra, the US Military, and the woman in the flower dress...

And - was that Skye's father at the end?

Also, good to see the Fitz relationship developing with another character (apologies, can't remember the names of any new faces yet). Also, the SAS guy is proving entertaining for his humour - the moment he pulled the icer on May and Skye was astonishing, and he's surely going to suffer for that later!
