I read this book about 8 years ago and I can not for the life of me remember the title.
I remember that the cover background was white and on the cover was a medium sized picture of a draconian and a boy(teen?) walking shoulder to shoulder as the draconian(lizard man) pointed off into the distance. I know this book has nothing to do with the dragonlance series, but I do remember that it was a draconian or a lizard man doing the pointing. Also there were two parts to the book. The first half was about the boy as he grew up(I think) and the second part had a little time skip and the boy was a commander fighting in a war. I do remember that the boy was a magician and the story might involve ley lines but I am not sure of that.
Since I did read it approximately 8 years ago, I'm assuming that it was published at least a year before that because the drawing that the cover had was similar to the old fantasy-type drawing in that day.
