Is there life at Syfy Channel?

That seems to be the case complete with a message from the President:
"We are absolutely committed to 12 Monkeys, and have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding critical and audience praise the series has earned,” said Dave Howe, Syfy President. “The talent both on and off-screen have delivered a series that has us all on the edge of our seats, providing exactly the smart, exciting storytelling Syfy is known for.”

Judging from the comments on TVByTheNumbers seems like it has quite the following, and some hating Ascension sore losers. 12 Monkeys is so much better. This was my favorite new show of 2015, so far!

Great news! I did enjoy Ascension, though. I would have liked to see where that went, but alas! They will have to find a role for Tricia Helfer on 12 Monkeys. :D

It is easily the best thing I have seen produced by the SyFy Channel, but the latest episodes have not thrilled me as much as the first few and I'm unsure exactly where it can go in Season 2. However, I'll wait and expect to be astounded when I see it.

Good news indeed! I'm really enjoying this, and I actually find it difficult to suspend disbelief when it comes to time travel stories.

I haven't seen this yet, but would you guys really put it above Helix season 1?

I've not seen Helix, so can't say. Do you recommend that?

The first series of Helix started well, but got bogged down with daft mythology about halfway through, and whilst the second series wasn't as bad as the end of the first series, it didn't do enough to save itself.

12 Monkeys, in contrast, is much better written, acted, and produced - it watches as if SyFy actually spent money on 12 Monkeys, compared to Helix. All the mythology is also there (it's pretty much impossible for a SF/F show not to have it, these days), but it doesn't bog 12 Monkeys down the same way it did Helix.
