Deaf - Blind: Extending touch

In one of my stories a deaf and blind person has communication via touch on the hand, I knew it was something in the real world, but I couldn't remember the name of it.

With a tactile glove and sensor this can be done remotely. The technology has been possible for maybe 40 years but previously only used for remote operated sex toys.

Helen Keller

Miracle Worker is an amazing film btw. Even my kids enjoyed it, despite that it was an old black and white film. Even if you've already seen it, might be worth revisiting for research purposes.
