House Velaryon. Corlys Velaryon, Alyn Oakenfist , Addam of Hull are all great characters. They (House Velaryon) seem to have been among the best seafarers westeros had to offer. A once powerful House, currently brought low. I'm hoping they regain some of their former glory. Plus i'm quite curious what exactly their relationship was with House Targaryen before the Doom. This holds true for House Celtigar too a lesser extent. Where the Velaryons a noble family from Valyria without dragons? Did some ancestors in Valyria own a dragon... . Why as wiki states did they travel to the outskirts of the Valyrian empire and settle on Driftmark before that Targaryen maiden prob. had her dream, and the Targaryen settled there on dragonstone. Is the merling king grrm's version of Poseidon? What's the pact they made for the driftwood throne? Do they live in the ancient castle of Driftmark or has High Tide been rebuilt? What about Spicetown? ...

Runner-up House Stark: their connection to the children, how they came to westeros, the old gods, ....

So which house intrigues you guys the most?

Other way around for me, desperately want to know as much as possible about the Starks, Velaryon and Celtigar runners up. Although I have been very intrigued by the very same questions you have posed....

Kiwi, did you get that info from AWOIAF or Dunk 'n' Egg?

House Mormont. Only the Starks (and mayhaps the Lannisters) have been more widespread and have connections to more plots and prominent figures.

Stark: Winterfell, the Night's Watch, the North, beyond the Wall, the Wildlings, Mance, Craster, the Riverlands, Sandor, Robb, the Twins, Riverrun, King's Landing, the Small Council, the Eyrie, Robert, Renly, Braavos, the House of Black and White, Direwolves, Jon, Eddard, Arya, Sansa, Bran, Catelyn, Littlefinger, Stannis, Melisandre.

Mormont: the Dothraki, the Dothraki Sea, Dany, Drogo, Viserys, Qarth, Slaver's Bay, Dragons, Mereen, Astapor, Yunkai, BFS, Volantis, Tyrion, Robb, the Riverlands, the Twins, the Night's Watch, Jon, Sam, beyond the Wall, Craster, Direwolves, talking Ravens.

Lannister: King's Landing, the Small Council, Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei, Robert, Joffrey, the Kingsguard, the Riverlands, Riverrun, Robert, Tywin, Littlefinger, Oberyn, Pentos, Illyrio, Essos, Volantis, Griff, Young Griff, Mereen, Eddard, Sansa, the Sparrows, the rise of the Faith.

Greyjoy: Winterfell, Pyke, Direwolves, Robb, Eddard, Bran, Ramsay, Theon, Asha, Aeron, Victarion, the Kingsmoot, Euron, the Iron Fleet, sailing to Mereen, Stannis, all three battles at Winterfell.

To date, they're the only house who have interacted with both direwolves and dragons. They also have a connection to a Valyrian Steel blade. They're on the Wall. They have supplied bodyguards for Queen Daenerys and King Robb. They have undertaken secret missions for both the Baratheons and the Starks. They have defied the Lannisters, the Baratheons, and the Boltons. They have a tourney champion, a Lord Commander, and female warriors. They have fought against wights, Others, Greyjoys, Freys, Lannisters, Dothraki, Yunkai'i, and sellswords.

And they don't even have a POV character!!!!!

I love the Old Bear. His relationship with, and his compaison to, his son Jorah is fascinating. One sin... and Jorah slipped all the way from being a lord to a slave.

And let's not forget Jorah's cousin.... Mmmmmmmm, Dacey.

Huh, can't believe Boaz Hasn't Mentioned Dacey Mormont yet

Lannister: King's Landing, the Small Council, Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei, Robert, Joffrey, the Kingsguard, the Riverlands, Riverrun, Robert, Tywin, Littlefinger, Oberyn, Pentos, Illyrio, Essos, Volantis, Griff, Young Griff, Mereen, Eddard, Sansa, the Sparrows, the rise of the Faith.

Still no mention of Dacey?

THERE it is.

I have to say that I agree with Boaz, definitely would like to hear more about the Mormonts, they are definitely an interesting house. I especially liked Lyanna Mormont's letter to Stannis. Pretty cheeky for a 10 year old, the mormonts are obviously pretty awesome. (and, Mmmmmm Dacey)

I also really like the dynamics of the Northern Mountain clans (Flints, Norreys, Liddles and the like). Not that there would be too much to find out about in terms of plot development or intrinsic history, they just seem like my kind of people.

I would have to say though that, by far, I want to see more of the Reeds.
I. Want. To. Meet. Howland. Reed.
If he doesn't make an appearance in the next installment I will be very disappointed. I want to know how much they actually know about what is going on outside their bogs. They obviously know that the North has pretty much fallen, but how? where are they getting their information from? and WHAT Is the value of Howland Reed? What did Ned Mean by that?

I want more of House Tollett. I think the why is fairly easy to understand.

I agree with Boaz's post mostly though.

Sry, you noticed the mention of a Tollett and the Tollett sigil in the sample chapter?

Yes. I was so ecstatic about it ahahah. Hoped for some lines from the character just to have a point of comparison. I need more Edd. Promote him to POV, Matin. Pretty please.

I would like to add House Dayne to the list.
First of all, their sword: Dawn. As sharp as Valyrian sword, yet different and said to be made from a heart of fallen star (!). And its wielder is not the heir of the House, but its greatest knight, known as the Sword of the Morning.
Second: recent Daynes (including Darkstar from the Knightly House Dayne of High Hermitage) display Valyrian traits, without any information where those traits came from (the only relatively recent Targaryens whose status are unknown are Egg's sisters).
Third: It's a House of the First Men, which, according to Darkstar, are existing since the Dawn Age. Add the description of the Dawn and you may start to think that this is the sword of Azor Ahai, the sword that ended the Long Night, which was made from the star metal.

I also have a hunch that it was a Dayne who was the first hero. I think it is time for Edrik Dayne to stand up and be recognised. I have a feeling he might show up at start of Winds at Griffins Roost to declare for Faegon...

Corbrays- Lyn Corbray keeps showing up in the most interesting places. Lyonel Corbrays wedding and new wife just seem to ooze some as yet unspecified/ unopened secret.

Flints/ Liddles- The Liddles know that Bran survived the burning of Winterfell, and yet Morgan (Middle) Liddle has accompanied Stannis' army, and made several comments about saving The Ned's little girl. The connection of the Flints to the "blood" of the first men, and their multiple branches (Widows Watch/ Flints Finger) would seem to lend some weight to them being a behind the scenes power in the Mountains.

Rosby- just after Lord Gyles died, word reaches KL that his new ward is causeing issues. Who's the ward? One of the missing Freys from Lord Walders 6th wife? How about Perwyn or Olyvar?

Peakes- They seem to have been a major family in the Reach prior to the conquest, up to the Red Grass Field and Lord Gorman. Now there seems to be at least one Peake in the GC, who seems to imply an ability to cause problems for the Tyrells. How big were they, and how far have they fallen? WHat will they do to rise back up?

And of course, The Daynes, Mormonts, Reeds, Manderlys, Evil Red Cloaked Boltons, Traitorous Back-Stabbing Freys.

OMG I am so with you on this. The Reeds, in general, seem so interesting, just from what we know about Meera and Jojen, not even touching upon the great mystery that is Howland Reed. We know only that they are tied to the Children of the Forest, frogs are a large part of their diet, and clearly Jojen has green dreams. I want to know so much more about this house that is so deeply intertwined with the Starks, what Howland's value actually is, and how it impacts the greater story (or at least Jon's story).

I reckon they're some kind of mixed race ethnic group descended from the first men and children of the forest...

:O What if Jojen is actually Howland Reed?!?!?! but because he has some of the Children of the Forest's blood in him, he ages very slowly! that's why they hide away in their bogs, because they want to keep their secret safe.

Maybe that's who martin was talking about when he said he wanted to do something with a character that the show is incapable of matching because they already killed of Jojen.

Too many people we can speculate on that. Jojen, Pyp, Grenn, Willas, Arienne, Quentyn, Sarelle, etc. Entire plotlines had been cut so hard to say.

We have already met Howland Reed. He is the High Sparrow. When someone proves me wrong on that theory I will gladly eat crow but so far no one has. He might be a Faceless Man or Ja'qen himself but I still have the strong belief that he is Reed.

That's the spirit! Substitute Reed with Varys and you have my theory ahahaha
