It would be absolutely fascinating to see this process applied to other fossils. In the meantime, in the image, the top row shows the plain fossils, the second row are the same but under ultraviolet light, and the bottom row are the reconstructed colours from that. Note that the one on the left is the only known polka-dot patterned mollusc known - according to the article - and revealed only through this technique.
