Genetically Engineered Psychic Twins

I encountered a book many years ago about sets of genetically engineered twins with different abilities, and while I can remember a few scenes vividly, the name has eluded me! Really hope someone can help!

One of the opening scenes featured a baby who had been born with no mouth, and the mother dreaming of him crying and feeding from her breast. This child grows up to have incredible powers.

Another scene, towards the end, features a chase scene through a mall or airport, and one of the twins trying to escape into a gift shop. To save him/herself, they make the glass front of the shop disappear, then reappear in time to cut the person chasing them in half.

Just by reading the title of your post, I felt certain I could answer your question. Alas, I cannot.

I was strongly reminded of a trilogy by Christopher Hinz which began with a book called Liege-Killer, which is the very story of twins being genetically engineered while still in the womb. The result of this manipulation is an entanglement and merger of their minds, resulting in a single consciousness owning and controlling both bodies simultaneously.

I highly encourage it, this series called 'The Paratwa Saga' is one of my all time favorites. I also very much recommend his other book called Anachronisms.

Very much a long shot but Daniel Keys Moran’s The Last Dancer (1993 and third in a series) does feature genetically engineered twins who are psychic.
