This was a learning episode for many of the characters.

Jorah learns that one should never ever remove a gag from a singing dwarf, even if the song you hope to stop by this act of kindness is Everything is Awesome.

Tyrian learns that dazzling displays of Sherlockian deductive reasoning are not always appreciated by the deductee, and that wine is not served aboard stolen fishing boats.

Jaime learns that his golden hand makes a handy catcher's mitt for a Dorne sword.

Bronn learns that he and Jaime are on a rescue mission for Jaime's niece, NOT his daughter.

Cersei learns that, once the High Sparrow minions have been rearmed, they become a highly effective religious extremist tool – because NOBODY expects the Faith Militant.

Jon Snow learns that he has the power to resist Temptress Melisandre and, by extension, the Lord of Light. On the other hand, maybe Jon would simply prefer not to be “Daddy” to his spitting image, bouncing baby boy, shadow assassin.

The Unsullied learned that while marching in tight formation armed with long spears may have been an effective tactic in open-field combat, the technique doesn't work quite as well for urban pacification situations in long, narrow alleyways. Unfortunately for Barristan and Grey Worm, that knowledge may have been gained too late.

Reposting to correct thread here...

This one went too fast for me. So many things started and not finished I suppose. Sansa is still going to marry, the new king is still a whimp and shows nothing more, the king is still at the Wall, (good for Jon Snow not giving in to that witch. I don't like her), Tyrion is still going to see the Queen, Jamie is still going to rescue his daughter. Someone please finish something next show!

This is going amazingly quick in comparison to the books:)

Overall I thought it was an ok episode. It was good that they finally got some of the back story about Rhaegar and Lyanna into it. Hopefully Ser Barristan and Grey Wolf survive the fight at the end, although I imagine it will only be Grey Wolf.

There was also a bit of foreshadowing in the exchanges between Jaime and Bronn. I fear Bronn will not be returning from Dorne.

Stannis is a much more nuanced character in the TV show than he is in the books. I like that, although I would like to see more of Ser Davos.

Poor Tommen. He needed to be a bit more like Joffery in his confrontation with the Faith Militant. But maybe he made the right choice. If he fought them it would have started a mass riot. So the young king might have more sense than his late brother.

Not sure I liked the speed at which the Faith Militant popped up, it literally went from one scene where they didn't exist, to the next where they were everywhere. Were they all hiding behind a door or something? Thought they would have strung that out a bit, considering what an important event it is (or will be)...

 You take that back! I like his character. He's not allowed to die. :(
Yeah! Maybe Jaime was the foreshadowed death target, although I would guess that he is extremely unlikely to die in the arms of the woman he loves.

Bronn and Tyrion were an entertaining pair. I hope they get back together.

Jaime and Bronn going off to Dorne was somewhat of a shock compared to the books. Though probably a good thing to reduce adding too many characters.

I can't believe that BFS is apparently dead. In all reality couldn't imagine a man of his age recovering from wounds like that. If George had wounded BFS in such a way there would have been no coming back!

BFS surely ain't dead. He nearly had his throat slashed but Grey Worm got in just in the nick of time - I reckon he'll be patched up, if not quite ready to rock, next week, telling Dany how it is. We can't have BFS talked up for four damn series just to have him bumped off the first time he draws his sword in anger - that's just not on.

No Brienne this week either. Hope she and Pod are back on Monday.

Actually, I can buy that. We have a dissatisfied populace who have watched the lords of the realm war with no thought for the lives of the common men and women that they were destroying. The Faith Militant is an organisation devoted to protecting the commoners - so I can see how it would be enticing for fighting men to join in the current climate.

There was a nice, very subtle nod to the books when Bronn killed that Dornish horseman by hacking away at the horse rather than the rider - classic sellsword underhandedness. If memory serves this is how he dispatches the oafish Lord Stokeworth after the latter tries to defend Cersei's family "honour".

Or, it could have been a coincidence...

Unfortunately I think he is if the trailers for tomorrow nights episode are anything to go by. His death leaves Dany short on advisors and a direct connection to Westeros and her past. This is where Tyrion might get his opening to help Dany and Jorah to be rehabilated.

Going back to faith militant (sorry Jones) I was disappointed with how they looked. I always imagined them in armour with rough spun Brown tunics and cloaks and all bearing the star as their sigil....

Considering how much ground the series has to cover in each episode, it's probably a good thing that the reactivation of the Faith Militant did not involve a long developmental story line. It's conceivable that they remained clandestinely organized throughout their long banishment, ever-ready to erupt like a hive of angry wasps when the opportunity arose.

I can sympathize with the Faith Militant targeting wealthy abusers of the commoners. Forceful imposition of centuries-old religious extremist views on all, however, is as repugnant as it has always been. I don't think Cersei will enjoy much success controlling what she has unleashed.

Yes. Me too. They don't look as good as I imagined them. Just some random common soldiers.

As they are against ecadence they probably shouldn't be wearing fancy armour, so I think that is ok. Plus they may have little income until/unless they have a wealthy family backer or donations from many commoners.
