So I'm at the 400 page mark of A Game Of Thrones - the first book of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, I'm trying to decide whether to watch Season 1 of Game of Thrones after I finish book 1, or go straight to book 2 - which one should I do?

There's a huge GRRM sub-forum here where you'd get inundated with advice...
You're fine to watch Season 1 after you've read the first book - the first few seasons follow the books reasonably closely.
I would also normally move this thread to either the Game of Thrones or George R R Martin board - but both are so full of spoilers, even in some discussion titles, that I'm not sure whether that would be fair on you, Mark.
