I've watched the first two episodes of this new series. At the same time, I also watched part of the other new fantasy series, Once Upon A Time. It was way over the top and took itself much too seriously, so it has dropped from my DVR queue accordingly.

But Grimm is interesting and uses a tongue in cheek approach to the story-telling. We started out with "Little Red Riding Hood" and moved on to "Goldilocks And The Three Bears". Each done up in contemporary style. Kinda fun. The lead character's ability to "see" the creatures in their true form makes me think of John Carpenter's film They Live. But Nick is a far cry from Roddy Piper and that's a good thing. The inclusion of a shape shifting were-canine as a reluctant side-kick is entertaining. Don't know how long such a concept can endure on TV, but it's fun so far.

I only watched the first episode and that was enough to know it was garbage. Great source material, but the show could have really been great if they slowed the pace down, and maybe understood a thing or two about effective plotting and dialogue.

I tried watching once Upon a Time, but it is a little dull and slow paced for my liking. Too sweet. I will let it drop from my dvr as well.

Now, Grimm, reminds me a little of Supernatural, dark and fun. I like it a lot so far, so will continue to watch.

Thats exactly why i watch Grimm, Supernatural is my fav fantasy, horror show ever on tv. Kripke was excellent writer, two awesome heroes. Grimm has more generic CW writing but its too similar to Supernaturla not to hope it becomes fun to watch until its too weak i have to give up.

Once Upon a Time is too sweet, too predictable in that they will prolong the ooh they cant remember who they for many seasons.

I am enjoying this show so far. If anyone is still enjoying it or just interested, the ratings have actually been pretty good and it has been picked up for a full 22 episode series. I hope it gets a second series.

We've been seeing the commercials for this and thought it would be sort of interesting, but we didn't really watch it because we didn't really have much time. However, we found it last night OnDemand and actually find it quite intersting.

I was really happy to see that it got picked up for the full season, I think this has some really good potential.

I've watched the first 4 or 5 episodes...it's amusing, but feels it tries a bit too much. A poor man's Supernatural I called it after the first episode.
I'll continue watching to see how things develop. The central idea is quite great...just that the actors have yet to grow into their roles.

Cheers, nix. Just brings up blank pages for me though. Still, I didn't know you could watch things on there!

Slightly surprised that we haven't got a thread for this, wondering if anyone else is watching it? Two episodes in, I'm finding it amusing.

Actually we do:

But not much more discussion than in this one. I'm enjoying it. Not an intellectual powerhouse, but there are some interesting sub-plots emerging.

I sometimes find myself judging a TV show by how good the 5.1 sound is. the sound for Grimm is quite good.

I can't be bothered to try to watch it when scheduled but I have watched it online when the whim hits and it's okay. I keep hoping it'll get better or worse, though - better and I could really like it; worse and I'd more comfortably quit.

Best scene so far: Monroe going all wookie on some guy, because we both said/thought the same thing after, to the effect of that going a little too far. :D

We watched the newest episode last night, again very good.

The captain has got us wondering...we're not too sure what he actually is. If he's wessen, he's done a very good job of hiding it, he's yet to lose any semblence of control... Some thoughts:

--Some random person who wants to get rid of Grimm(s) for some unknown reason
--Someone with a reason to hate Grimm(s)
--A rogue Grimm
--A wessen who thinks Grimm(s) should be destroyed
--If anyone watched the old Highlander series, we think he might be kind of like the Watchers, possibly just wanting to keep the peace-ish, but possibly wanting the Grimm(s) out of the way
--(After friday's episode): Someone who used to have some amount of power and due to Grimm involvement lost and now wants it back...

These are just theories that we've discussed in my house. Anyone else got some ideas?

With a second season assured, here is an article about the show and about Monroe (Dude! Seriously?):

Dude seriously ? About what?

The last 5,6 eps of Grimm have been pretty good. I watched ep 10 to 18 ep in a marathon last week. It has become better written, more mythology, world building and good characters like Monroe,Rosalie.

Silas Weir Mitchell is definitly the best part of Grimm.

It's just something Monroe would say.

We love Monroe in my house. :)
Sometimes, he reminds me of a kid at Christmas when he gets to play with all the stuff from Aunt Marie's trailer and at other times he reminds me of a girl in a relationship (always asking Nick why he doesn't call, etc)
