I've watched the first two episodes of this new series. At the same time, I also watched part of the other new fantasy series, Once Upon A Time. It was way over the top and took itself much too seriously, so it has dropped from my DVR queue accordingly.
But Grimm is interesting and uses a tongue in cheek approach to the story-telling. We started out with "Little Red Riding Hood" and moved on to "Goldilocks And The Three Bears". Each done up in contemporary style. Kinda fun. The lead character's ability to "see" the creatures in their true form makes me think of John Carpenter's film They Live. But Nick is a far cry from Roddy Piper and that's a good thing. The inclusion of a shape shifting were-canine as a reluctant side-kick is entertaining. Don't know how long such a concept can endure on TV, but it's fun so far.
