Fairly disappointed with the Demon episode. They ran the previews like this was something beyond anything they had seen before. More dangerous by major degrees than anything they had dealt with before. That all of Portland was at risk.
And it turned out to be just another another vessen of the week episode. The idea of the Demon was brilliant, but the execution of the idea was awful. It held no special power above others. There was nothing to suggest it was power enough to destroy a city. Or to do anything beyond what some of the other more powerful vessen could do.
I think the principle was that he was a sort of elemental who could, after a time, cause a destructive eruption so they went after him mano a thingo instead of mano a volcano. As an individual dude - and apparently not a wesen at all but a different sort of entity, as he had no human aspect - he wasn't as dangerous. But I still agree that it was an oversold and underproducing episode.
And, of course, the solution to defeating the creature could have been guessed by just about everyone with a few brain cells
Or just anyone who had seen
Terminator 2. That T2 scene is what I thought to myself when they were talking it over but I was still a little surprised that that was actually what they did. I mean, they could have put Nick in an asbestos suit and had him throw the thing into a lake (which would sort of be the Ripley vs. Queen approach but not such a literal ripoff as T2) or, better, any number of actually creative things.
Juliette is still dealing with her demons. Adelaide is still scheming. About the only part I enjoyed was the bum rush Hank got being thrown out of the precinct at the beginning of the episode. That was cute.
I missed about the first ten minutes so didn't see that. But I am relieved the Juliette arc is about over. They still have to deal with what should be her final pre-amnesia memory but otherwise, I guess she's Juliette again. Finally.
A problem I had with this episode (and some others lately) is the ever-growing gang. We started with a Grimm alone. Now it's a Grimm, his buddy the blutbad, his buddy's girlfriend, his partner, his boss, and the funny refrigerator repairman and probably many more. And, shortly, presumably, Juliette. And yet, despite this Grimmgang, Portland is apparently staffed by a single uniformed cop and he's the one guy not in on the "secret".
Anyway - despite all that, since it's still one of 2.5 shows I watch, I'm glad it was renewed. I just hope they elevate their game next season (and I wouldn't mind if they started now,
)
