Boy moves to water planet colony with cruel father

I'm looking for the name or author of a book about a boy who moved from his home on earth to live with his father on a colony on another planet. It was a watery planet, with lots of swamps and pond life. The father was unloving and borderline abusive. The version of the cover I had showed the boy sitting in reeds at the bottom, and the faint image of frog eyes at the top, and the colouring was reddish orange I think.

The title was only one word. The author is female, and fairly well known I think.

I read it when I was about 9 or 10, and I'd love to revisit it. Hope somebody can help me find it

This is most likely Monica Hughes’ The Golden Aquarians (1994). Blurb: “It’s 2092. Walt Elliot’s dad, the famed colonel, has just ordered Walt to join him on the planet Aqua, where Walt finds himself battling his father to prevent the environmental destruction of the planet and its creatures.”
