Release dates for old titles

Hoping the chron hive mind will be able to help me with something...

I'm trying to find specific release dates for some science fiction books, but isfdb only has the month and year.

Does anybody know where I'll be able to find the actual day of release?

Interesting question! I'd be interested in knowing the dates of some favorites, like Tolkien's major books.

Ah, no joy. That's a shame. I find it interesting that this information hasn't been recorded anywhere. I shall have to delve deeper...

Each publisher will know their own titles. Perhaps the Library of Congress(US), any comparable entity in the UK?
