While looking for recordings by soundtrack artist Trevor Morris, I found he'd done one for the Dutch film, titled Admiral for UK release, but otherwise known as Michiel de Ruyter.
And the trailer did look interesting - welcome to Holland in the 17th Century (Released Jan 2015):
However, in the related lists was another film titled Admiral - this time a South Korean film about how 12 ships stopped a Japanese armada from invading during the 16th Century (released Oct 2014):
Also in the related lists was another interesting film named Admiral, this time from Russia, about Alexander Kolchak, a naval commander for Imperial Russia who fought against the Red Army after the Russian Revolution (released Jun 2008):
3 suitably exciting looking historical dramas about events I know almost nothing about. I definitely need to watch more international cinema!
