She's been mentioned in a few threads but she hasn't got one of her own according to a quick search I did.

I've just started reading some of her work and it's strange to note that often the premise or idea sounds deathly dull but I've read all the way to the end very quickly every time so far. Perhaps it's something to do with her prose but I'm just compelled to keep reading.

I've read so far: The Clewiston Test - This was just odd and had a boring premise but I read to the end in 2 days which is very quick for me so Kate must have been doing something right.

The Infinity Box (novella) - really enjoyed this.

I'm currently reading Moongate (novella) and I'm enjoying that as well.

I'm aware of the received wisdom that Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang is her masterpiece but I'm going to hold off on that one until the end.

Any other opinions on her writing?

Very much a "writer's writer." (That is why she has more Nebulas than Hugos.) Very much a low-key, calm, introspective writer. Very much a writer preoccupied with character. She does not dazzle with fireworks, but draws attention by whispering.

I gather that since the late 1980's her work has mostly been in the mystery/suspense genre. I am not familiar with that aspect of her writing.

I met Kate and husband Damon Knight back in the early 80s? Both very good writers. The Killer Thing is fun, give it a shot.
At the time I think she was promoting 'Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang' and it was enjoyable though I can't remember the storyline at the moment.

I have read a few of her legal mysteries, but it's been a long time ago. As I recall, I liked them.
