In case you haven't heard of her, she's the one who self-published a few supernatural romance novels - because she wanted to make a couple hundred bucks to go to a Jim Henson convention.

And managed to sell a half-million ebooks before the year was out.

Here's her explanation:

As far as I can tell it was a perfect storm of having the right books in the right genre at the right price at the right time.

What's especially interesting is that she has experience now with both self-publishing and traditional publishing.

It is interesting. It kind of reminds me of an author I saw at my local writing conference this year. She has sold over a million copies and started just as a stay at home mom who wanted to write books that touch your emotions. Steena Holmes. She does some sort of self-pub/trad model now and says self-promotion and having a 'brand' are so important to your success.

read this story about a month ago and found it interesting and inspiring. Well done to her! She can afford to go to every Jim Henson convention she pleases to now :)

Yes self pub can be way more accessible and successful especially when the author hits upon a niche....

Btw 'urry up and get Inish out. Read the prologue on your blog. very fine indeed :)

Oh, thank you. It's out on ebook next Friday. Createspace files uploaded today but I think the paperback will run about a week or so behind. Nearly managed them all at the same time - but have learned loads about the timing and what not for if I do it all again some time... :)

Arghhh two weeks! i'll have to keep re-reading the prologue until I can order a lovely paperback copy..

Really can't wait to get my hands on it and good luck for when the E-book releases next week :)

Thank you! I got createspace finished today - if it pops up on Amazon before then I'll shout!
