It's September - what are you reading?

I'm still working through Fool's Quest by Robin Hobb. I'm about 2/3 through at this point I think.

Words of Radiance, by Brandon Sanderson [finally], and re-reading Three Kingdoms.

A pair of enormo-books. Probably about 3,500 pages combined, so it'll be interesting to see how long it takes me (about a fifth of the way into Words of Radiance, and perhaps an eighth [halfway through the first of four volumes] into Three Kingdoms).

Currently reading Christopher Fowler's Nyctophobia after finishing his Hell Train. I wish I had read Fowler before now. These are fast reads, but not simple. He packs a fair amount in -- observations of characters, landscape, architecture and ties much of this into history -- and does it in readable, smooth flowing prose. If I had more time to read right now, I'd have probably finished the novel already.

Thad are you enjoying WOR? I love those books, although I get that they will not be for everyone.

David Mitchell's The Bone Clocks - a new departure for me, after finishing a Sharpe novel and being disappointed.

The past few days I've been reading Inish Carraig, by Jo Zebedee, you may have heard of her. A fast-paced, enjoyable story that I pretty much ate through.

It seems to be have got me in the reading mood, so earlier this evening I started The Long Walk, shockingly a King novel that I haven't read. I'm already 116 pages in; such a simple idea and so incredibly tense and gripping.

Read The Way of Kings, but not Words of Radiance. Don't know if I want to read such a large book.

Who wrote Three Kingdoms?

About to finish No Fortunate Son, by Brad Taylor.

Next book will be Sting of the Drone, by Richard A. Clarke.

Three Kingdoms is the Chinese classic, yes [there are 3 other Chinese neo-classical mega-novels: Outlaws of the Marsh, Journey to the West, and Story of the Stone/Dream of the Red Chamber. Read all save the last (which I started but found utterly tedious)]. I think it's by Luo Guanzhong.

I am enjoying Words of Radiance. Not sure whether it's any bigger than Way of Kings.

About to finish Glimpses of Nature by Dr Andrew Wilson-1891
An old favourite of mine, I keep dipping into it. This time I'm reading it cover to cover.

currently reading:

Stuka Pilot - Hans-Ulrich Rudel
Tessa Intergalactic Agent (G/N)

Hoopy, I really liked the Long Walk.

I'm really enjoying it! (Well as much as you can considering the content). I'm a King fan anyway but this is what he's best at, when he's got a simple idea that let's him really get into characters. I just can't stop, 284 pages down now and I'll probably finish in the next hour or so.
