I know this isn't a lot to go on, but as a child in the 60s I read a collections of short scifi stories. I remember one story I liked about a man who had undergone some procedure which made him superhuman - mainly strength, speed I believe. The only other details I can remember are from a paragraph mentioning silver veins following the enhancement procedure.
That is about it. I remember the bad guys may have created a similar guy(s) to combat him. But that is a fuzzy recollection.
