Doctor Who Spin-off - Class

Sounds like they've run out of ideas and decided to make Grange Hill with a touch of Sarah Jane Smith for "adults"

The Doc has the widest possible panorama for story telling. As I've said before perhaps it's time for Moffat to hand over the show to someone new. Hey, maybe me. Joking.

I don't understand that report, I must be being thick again. How does an online channel save money over a broadcasted channel? You still have to pay for programmes to be made. Unless it will be a pay-per-view channel? That would be quite a change for iPlayer, and it would explain why they want to make this Doctor Who spin-off. Not many people would be willing to pay for Snog, Marry, Avoid or Murdered by my Boyfriend, but they might for something like that.

I would be much more interested in a continuation of another Doctor Who spin off rather than a start of a new one. Yes, Torchwood, I am looking at you!

Perhaps it is just late and I'm being dense, but I saw nothing to imply there would be no Doctor Who next year.

You're not meant to question these types of statement, as they tend to fall apart when you do. Although one way this might work is if fewer new programmes are made -- and fewer bought in -- which would be easier to do (i.e. hide from the viewers) with an on-demand service rather than one with a defined schedule (as suddenly there would be lots of on-demand programmes and no schedule at all).

Oh, and one reason I heard for removing BBC3 was that its two channels (HD and SD) could be used as BBC1+1 channels.

Surely the point is to get younger viewers "back" into Doctor Who? If ratings are sliding then this can act as a kind of feeder show...

Ratings may be sliding the last couple of weeks but what are they without the rugby World Cup?

It astounds me that they've broken with a show, whose simple formula, has worked for fifty years.
It's like saying let's do another Star Trek without a ship.

I've watched the first episode and - well - slow start, very "Sarah Jane with blood" but then the 2nd half rocketed off and improved a LOT!

Ended well - there is hope. Watching episode 2 tomorrow.

So, no sex with gay aliens and cyberwomen then? Oh, yeah! They did that already, sorry.

Is "Grange Hill, with a touch of Sarah Jane Smith's adventures, for adults" an accurate description of this, because that doesn't sound like a winning formula?
