I am trying to remember the name of a TV series that was on in the early 1980's. It was set in ancient Greece and the Olympian gods would meddle in human affairs. The clearest detail I remember is that the gods would sit around in an Olympian temple and view the progress of human affairs in a reflection in a large flat vessel of water. The other detail I remember is less clear, but I think the title sequence had a flat world supported on the back of a turtle. However, I don't think the series had anything to do with Discworld.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Clash of the Titans movie?

That jumped to my mind too, but I think that one had the gods playing with moving chess pieces to represent events in the mortal realm, rather than observing in water. The water, I think, was used in the film of Jason and the Argonauts, and probably many others.

I thought of the The Aphrodite Inheritance, which is a mix of a thriller and supernatural, but it is 1979. And has Brian Blessed in! By the same writer and team involved with, Who pays the Ferryman.(ok showing my age here lol)
