Just saw the first episode, and being one who's good with words I can safely say WOW!!!

I've followed all of the incarnations of this show from the beginning but this one, ah, how does that go again, oh yeah, WOW.

From the first scene I felt the smothering presence of the Shining. This is, imho, the best opening to an AHS series ever. And the music is absolutely spot on. As usual it's moody, spooky, bloody but this one has an extra teaspoon of menace.

Fabulous location, fabulous acting, fabulous writing etc, etc. I can hardly believe that the joker who inflicted Scream Queens on us is the same who wrote and directed this minor masterpiece.

Well, that's my unbiased opinion. How about yours?

Droflet,

I'm watching the series but I am not loving it. Hopefully it will get better.

Season one is my favorite.

Have you watched Penny Dreadful?

After sitting through the 1st 20 minutes of this week's episode, I deleted it and likewise deleted the series from my recording schedule. Too much of guys kissing guys! I could have tolerated some of that content, but the episode just kept at it. I had really enjoyed this season up to this point, but this was too much! I am not one of those guys who leaves the theater when this content is first on screen, & I recall a time when more than a few guys had walked out of a theater while I remained, hoping for the story to move on, which it did.

Admittedly, there was something I found offensive in earlier seasons, but this went too far. I might have hoped that subsequent episodes would be more horror, & less homosexual, but, I can skip it. I also dislike musicals because the dancing & such does not advance the plot any more than this did.
