Star Trek: Discovery - new series in 2017

Our channel spoil it just before the premiere, the morons.
They presented Jason Isaacs as the captain and gave most of the interview to Sonequa Martin-Green, the second-in-command. No need to imagine Michelle Yeoh will die soon and Michael, her first officer, will not stay long in that prison.

I enjoyed it, I found the best way to deal with any irregularities, such as holographic communications which were introduced as a new idea in DS9, as thinking of this series as either being a completely new show that just uses familiar terms from Star Trek, or taking it not as a prequel to STOS but more as a sequel to Enterprise with a new timeline caused by the time war. Either way I just watched it and enjoyed it without any hang ups over canon, I just enjoyed it for itself not as a piece of the Star Trek franchise.

I quite enjoyed it. The Bridge Crew Snark felt like a forced attempt to show how buddy-buddy the bridge crew were, but I think it also fit the ethos that Starfleet is not a military force, despite their guns and uniforms. Also regarding @Alexa's spoiler...

You know the existing captain and crew aren't going to make it right from the credits. The credits list Jason Isaacs and a bunch of other people who don't appear in the pilot, and lists Michelle Yeoh as a Special Guest Star. It all marked that crew for death right from the opener. If they really wanted it to be a shock they would've made different credits for the first two episodes.

My review of Star Trek Discovery is up: Star Trek is Back – JohnJFalco.com

"it would help if we knew why Michael hates them. I’m assuming they will reveal bits and pieces of it throughout the series."

This was revealed clearly during the pilot. Michael grew up in a Human/Vulcan science outpost which was destroyed in a Klingon raid, and she was the only survivor. She was a child at the time, at school at the time, and Sarek managed to return her to life by imparting a fragment of his katra into her.

Sorry for the spoiler ! I was just pissed off. I kept myself away from anything possible to spoil the show for me, including this thread. Space channel gave the interviews with the actors 30 minutes before, with announcements the series will start any minutes after. I had no choice, but watching it. :p

Actually, I kinda like our future captain, so I will not complain so much for the lost of Michelle Yeoh.

I saw her at school on Vulcan. I clearly missed most of the rest... Hmmm.

There was a conversation. I wouldn't have thought Sarek would have taken in a Human child, but maybe this is what informed his decision to later take a Human wife. Anyway, do you know we have now created threads for individual episodes so that you can discuss this spoiler free?

I wanted to reply directly to @Amelia Faulkner because she quoted me, but I put the review here because this section is talking about the show in general, and my review covered both pilot episodes.

Sarek for being such an iconic Vulcan, he doesn't appear to be very good at being one. Although this might just be Hollywood using him to drive their stories. I think he's had an impact in every show and movie!

It's just a shame that Netflix didn't do what they usual do and put up all 13 episodes at once. ;)

Edit: I've found out there will be 15 episodes shown in two tranches. Some episode titles are already out so I will create threads.

The 15-episode season will be released in two chapters. The first eight episodes will run from Sunday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 5. The season will then resume with the second chapter in January 2018.

The Warp Nacelles designs look like those on Enterprise in the era of the The Motion picture or am I mistaken?
