Star Trek: Discovery - new series in 2017

(Sigh) I think that's the problem. Another is that when I watch Star Trek (the Original) I watched it with my parents and we could and sometimes did talk about it afterwards. Now we are more likely to all be in separate rooms watching different shows. --- I'm sorry for derailing this thread!

Some of my fondest memories were of racing home to watch Star Trek and Dark Shadows (back-to-back) with my mom.

They pass publicity on our channels about next episode scheduled in January EVERY DAY. It's quite frustrating as I hope EVERY TIME they will give us some spoilers what to expect next.

I recently watched a YouTube video suggesting that Discovery is about the creation of Section 31.

I haven't watched an episode of Discovery yet. I have already been through one change in how Klingons look. LOL

I thought Section 31 was in Enterprise?

Someone else would need to help as I admit to not really concentrating when watching most of Enterprise. I only saw those episodes once (all the other series I have seen multiple times - some TOS episodes possibly in double figures!)

Reed who was tactical officer aboard Enterprise was a member of Section 31.

Thanks, I thought so. Memory Alpha says that:
The organization's title came from the original Starfleet Charter, Article 14, Section 31, which allowed for extraordinary measures to be taken in times of extreme threat. (ENT: "Divergence")
So far in Discovery, all the predictions of playing loose with canon have been unfounded, or at least there are explanations. So, I think it is unlikely that they would disregard an entire episode of Enterprise.

I didn't click on the link in @Cli-Fi 's post. I prefer the next episode to be a surprise. Are there any spoilers in the link?

Actually he did well spoiler/tease wise. It's safe to read, I think there is a couple new pictures though. Mostly about how he was happy to be working with Star Trek again and how the cast is as tight as TNG cast was. Apparently he used his Falling Skies connections to get in. Now, I'm gonna have a hard time NOT picturing Riker on board Discovery, since you know he's behind the scenes for this ep. Frakes is a professional.
