I am here to do the thing!
A bit of fun, then.

To while away the endless dirge of November, the stop-gap between late summer and Advent, @Glen and I have decided that a wee Haiku challenge is in order.

So, let's say standard Challenge rules; one entry per member, and entries must stick to the traditional Haiku format:

1st line (5 syllables)
2nd line (7 syllables)
3rd line (5 syllables).

Just to confirm - a Haiku is a three-line poem consisting of 17 syllables.

Let's keep it open for a week and I'll whack up a poll afterwards. Just as a disclaimer: this is NOT an official Chrons Writing Challenge (which is why it's in Workshop) and there are no prizes; it's a just a bit of fun to while away the hours :)

As I'm kicking things off, I'm choosing the theme (no genre, as I think the "genre" is sort of the format, although happy to be told otherwise).

So the theme for this week is (you folks in Australia will have to use your imagination :D):

COLD

Closing Date: 11:59 GMT, Monday 30th November 2015.

I'll then whack up a poll to choose the winner for a couple of days, which will end at 11:59 GMT, Wednesday 2nd December 2015.

I've set up a little discussion thread here.

Enjoy!
Have at ye!

I thought this was meant to be autumn...

My nose is frozen.
Oh! I long for summer and
complaints about heat.

Watch Over Me

Winter battlefields.
My sanctuary, my Snow
Angel, Valkyrie.

From A Flower Bed

Croci bend nightly
To rabbit yoga poses;
Strong cores rebuff frost.

Frostbitten

The frost burns your skin.
I laugh as you squeal in pain.
I watch you shiver.

No bunny ears here

Floor cold as the grave
The Dark Lord seeks solace in
Furred slippers of doom

Frozen

Frozen at home, please
Test the damn heater again
Icicles forming

Shivering, I remember

Spider-killer mine,
how you torment my feelings!
Foes death, over priced?

Advent of the New Ice Age

Making snow angels
On the face of the glacier
Bearing down on us

G'day!

Forty two degrees
warrants opening a fine,
fresh, frosty, cold one.
