RESOLVED -- Somehow just writing the post got me thinking of the right terms for success where previous googling failed:

Plot revolves around 2nd gen of marooned colonists, mostly teenagers, rebelling against the social order.
Female teenage protagonist is split between rebelling teenage male born to lower professional caste, and her parents/mentors steering her to fulfill predestined/genetically designed/computer planned role.
The social order has been constructed to ensure successful repair/regrowth of the colonists partly organic ship before planetary resources are used up (or the sun goes red dwarf?).
Any help?
