Cyborg romance circa early 80's

Looking for what I think was a short story. Young female space cadet hits it off in a bar with the barman. He turns out to be part cyborg following major injury. Normally this seems to make him something of a social pariah. Next day she goes off on duty, and these duties mean she's away for 5 years at a time. Each time she comes back to the barman, who is ageing slower than her due to his cyborg elements. Eventually he hears there's been a terrible incident, and it turns out she end up a cyborg too and they get together. Hope I've remembered correctly. It's been a long time.
