Star Wars: episode 8, delayed

The BBC reports that the release of Star Wars, episode VIII, has been delayed until December 2017 - possibly due to the script being reworked. Which hopefully means it won't be so rushed as VII:

I saw this news also, and I was disappointed to have to wait more than a year for the next film, but perhaps as you say VIII won't have to be rushed as Episode VII was.

A year? piff, I remember the pace at which The Empire Strikes Back arrived after "Star Wars." --- Still not calling it the New Hope.

We're still due to get Rogue One, a stand alone Star Wars film set during the building of the first Death Star, this December.

I didn't know about Rogue One. I wonder how that will turn out. In response to Parson, I also remember the long wait between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. However, even the prequels were all three years apart, so if Episode VIII arrives in fewer than three years, we'll be fortunate.

Better a delay than a rushed film that compromises quality writing. Rogue One is good enough for now (hopefully).
