Looking for the title of the book/story that I read back in the late 70s/early 80s. Possibly published in Children's Digest. I think it was a futuristic story about literal plastic surgery. The main character had a procedure after which he/she was able to change the shape of his/her own face because it was now made of plastic.

I only remember that the character was very tentative about it at first, gingerly poking and pulling on his nose or chin to see how they changed.

I've not been able to track down a single lead on this, over many months of trying. Hoping someone out there has read it, too!

I'm happy to report that I've found this book, with the help of another book-finder site! For anyone interested, the story is called "The Plastic Age" and it was part of a book called Adrift in Space and Other Stories by Roger Elwood.

Thanks so much for posting back with the answer! I'm sure future searchers will appreciate it.
