Women carry men on backs

I am trying to find a book that was at the library in the early to mid 1970's.

It was a sci Fi book where women were wrapped in barbed wire and bred for pain. They carried their men on their backs.

This influenced me heavily when I was young and would love to find that book again.
 
Not much to go on but one possibility is Lawrence Janifer’s Bloodworld (aka You Sane Men) (1968). Has a similar premise. See review here.
