Sci Fi book about missing link yeti scientist with soldiers in mountains. Hidden forest in Himalayas

Book is about a missing link tracked to himylayan mountains. Creature is yeti like, very intelligent and lives in a hidden rain forest under the snow. Creature kills many of the people in the search party. This book is maybe 8-10 years old.

Either "Brother Esau" or Philip Kerr's "Esau" from the mid nineties which also has the same set up.

Sounds a bit like some of the conspiracy theories and other apocryphal tales built around Operation Tabarin and the Third German Antarctic Expedition 1938/39. Yes, I realise this isn't helpful; I just wanted to participate in something.
