Looking for a book that I read in the 1980s during junior high. The story of a hero who has a telepathic bond with a large mutant cat and their journey through the desolate cities and waste lands of post nuclear attack. Anyone think they now the book?

Found this on a google search

Published in 1952, Andre Norton’s Star Man’s Son (also known as Daybreak 2250), is an early post-nuclear-war novel that follows a young man, Fors, in search of lost knowledge. Fors begins his Arthurian quest through a radiation-ravaged landscape with the aid of a telepathic mutant cat. He encounters mutated creatures called "the beast things," which are possibly a degenerate form of humans.

Hey jhoop! I saw your thread's title, and came here to respond...but I see the ever-vigilant monkeypooper has beaten me to it. I bet mp nailed the book for you...Andre N. is a fine author, and this is a good book; I read this as Daybreak-2250 A.D., with this cover:

.

Hope this is the one you're looking for! CC

ps--monkeypooper, I've been meaning to tell you for (almost two) years that I LOVE your username and icon!! :)

Been wanting to read this book for ever and cheers CC

( I keep Gerbils and, looked for an email to do with it also, to be used as a user name, it came up as an alternative to what i wanted which, was gone and, made me chuckle.)

:) Not to be immature...well, actually I'm very immature...but I smile every time I see that monkey-in-a-diaper.

HB, it's so sad...I read this so long ago that I cannot remember who Spike is. :(

:) No, that IS Spike (from Buffy), you are right! (Maybe in Sunnydale, after a hell-hole opened up??)

edit - Hellmouth...it's been a few years for Buffy, too. :)

Don't worry, HareBrain, I knew exactly what you meant - the resemblance is remarkable.
