Is anyone here a member of Bookbub?

It's been spoken of as a great place for marketing quality self-published books - but, after taking a look, it's also potentially a great place for readers to pick up potentially great freebies and bargains!

And - here's the other pointer - and potentially cheap way for writers to research what self-published books are doing in your genre. For example, fantasy:

I was in it for a while, and got a lot of free books (careful, they tend to give away the first volume as a taster), but they no longer support the Nook in the UK.

I'm a subscriber to both BookBub and Book Barbarian. I pick up a book from their listings about every 2 weeks. Usually but not always a free one. Remember that the person listing a book for free is doing so for a reason-- there's no reason to feel guilty for taking them up on their offer. They might be using the first book of a series as a teaser. They might be trying to get reviews for their book. They might be trying to build some exposure.

I'm a member but rarely buy from their emails - I'm not convinced on their criteria for selection which seems like such a lottery and would prefer to know how they chose their titles. I do, however, check out book barbarian, who I find good because they're specialist sff.

I unsubscribed today. It's a great service for readers, but my TBR pile is high enough that I don't need to actively seek out new reads. Still highly recommend it for readers and authors, though.

I've been a member for a while. I like the way you can pick what genres you like and the limited selection (I normally get about five to six options per email). I've noticed a preference for 1.99/0.99 over free lately but that might be my imagination/genre choice.

Yup, I'm a member as well as used the promotion 3 times for some old books I published. It's pretty great!
