I have read a few of Ashman's books(he has churned out quite a quantity). The quality varies. This series was on my radar.

Am currently reading Roman: Fall of Britannia. It's not bad so far.

There's no real attention to POV use, which is a little annoying as it doesn't allow him to develop his characters to any great depth. But the prose is fluid and there's a decent pace. Sometimes I even feel I detect a Gemmell influence in how the characters speak.

So far, reminds me of Ben Kane - easy to read, with some nice attention to detail, but flirts with being too superficial at times.
