A Trope-y Little Minefield

Easy to find inspiration, hard to get it on paper.
Forgive the bizarre title, but it was a conversation I was having with a friend and he coined that phrase which made me chuckle.

Basically, there are always those tropes that enter modern fiction, whether it be novel, movie, audiobook, puppet show, etc.

However, how risky are those tropes seeing as they're also in popular media.

I watch a show called The 100. Huge fanbase. But they had the strong lesbian faction leader killed off. Bit of a trope there ehh?

But the fanbase increased after that.

And it got me thinking - and therefore caused the conversation between my friend and I
